Thanks for Your Reply
by: Anonymous

Hello, thanks for your reply to my post below, I want you to know I am not planning on quitting or giving up on my dreams and understand every point you've made.

I have had several bad experiences with the school and was having a bad week. Do I recommend the school? No, but I don't know if there's anything better out there for anybody, so it is what it is.

To be honest with you what I have learned is that with this entertainment industry education is not necessary, just talent and/or hard work. I understand that spending thousands of dollars for education is important for other fields such as doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc. But not this industry.

If you have the talent then you have the talent.

It is possible to break into the industry from the bottom by working hard and meeting the right people.

In the end, it is all about you, your attitude and your dreams as you keep stating, thank you.

Sorry to hear about your negative experiences. You might not like what I have to say next but I will remain polite and respectful to you.

You will never find success unless you change your attitude. I feel badly to tell you that because you are probably around the same age as my son.

You are approaching your education as though the world owes you something because you paid so much money. The truth is that the world owes you nothing. It is up to each of us to make our own way.

You Said; "The way they treat students (...) is terrible. They close every parking lot for Fame Week so students have to park across the street in a different plaza to get to class. We are paying thousands of dollars and do not deserve such treatment."

That is your example of mistreatment? I can understand your concern about the parking if it is as dangerous as you say but why not make a Buddy System (Great Way to Meet People or Future Partners?). Or call the police and lodge a complaint to the school.

The point is that your future is at stake here. If you don't change the way you see things and respond to them then there is little hope. You will always find a reason why something is not quite right and that distraction will drive a wall between you and what you want.

You are allowing 1 man; 4 days a month of parking problems, and your difficulties with financial aid as examples of the School's incompetence.

You even accused me of selling my Website just so Full Sail could 'Shut me up'. That statement only tells me that you have not taken the time to do any research or even read any of this website.

If you want to know anything about the owner of a website then go to whois.com and enter the website domain name to get your information.

And now you want the readers here to take you at your word? No. Too many others have such a passion for the school

Drop-outs are just quitters. Full Sail is one of very few schools to offer students the chance to re-take a class if you fail. They are also the only film school to conduct lab instruction at 2am.

I am very sorry that you are going to let these things get in the way of your dreams and your future. It is always sad to see someone as intelligent as you become overtaken by the pot-holes of life and then blame the pot-hole.

Einstein said it best; "You have to learn the rules of the game. And then you have to play better than anyone else.

I hope that you can learn the rules of the game. Right now you are just fighting against them and complaining how unfair it is.

Leave Full Sail with the best possible Reel you can. Everything else is just there to get in your way.

The questions is; Are you going to let them?

Philip.

The Wrong Attitude is Failure at Film School
by: Anonymous

I am a full sail student on campus and am very unhappy with the school. There are some good teachers here and that is the only good thing i have to say about it, it's not their fault, they are just being passionate about teaching. But one man does not care about his school and has no regard for the students.

There are many examples, I will say for one is the way they treat students when there's graduation or hall of fame week. They close every parking lot and students have to park across the street in a different plaza to get to class. We are paying thousands of dollars and do not deserve such treatment.

It is a dangerous area and there are lots of students getting mugged and shot walking to school because they carry expensive gear. We have to find our own housing which adds expenses and cannot find stable work because our hours are crazy.

Therefore we must depend on financial aid which is worse than dealing with an unemployment agency. I have had many mixups and problems getting my paychecks which I depend on to live. I have been evicted twice already because people in financial aid have screwed up my paychecks.

The students are slackers and 18 year olds getting out of high school who don't take school seriously so they end up failing and dropping out and then they become full sail haters. Those guys deserve what they get for slacking, but it is clear the students coming here are no Steve jobs or Bill Gates.

The course materials are terrible and once you figure out the formula for assignments it is easy to pass each class, they are not challenging. I have not learned much and have come to the conclusion that what matters is getting the diploma and not what I have learned.

A professor told us of a website that a student created against full sail and the school approached and eventually bought them out to keep them quiet. I would not be surprised if this is the ex-site.

This is a terrible school, I would not recommend it to anybody. I graduated with my bachelor's on campus and am currently getting my master's online.

Why? I don't why? I already started and am past halfway through and in huge debt so I have no choice but to finish the stupid degree! But please don't enroll and especially online, their online program is even more of a joke. I have not learned didley squat!

Reply to Design Graduate of 16 Years

You got all that from just 1 phone call to the school? Maybe you just encountered a rude person? How do you justify your qualifications for grading Full Sail with an "F"?

I don't think you are telling us the whole story.

I have called and tried to tour every Film / Art School we have and will review on this website. I access and study where the money comes from and where it is going. I study and review the background of every teacher currently under the School's employ.

And I still wish I knew more. I wish I could study at, meet every teacher and tour the hallways of every school I will and have reviewed.

And even then I wonder if I have done right by the people who know that schools are in business. These people also know that information is the only way to arm themselves.

I was that guy, wading through all the vindictive posts on websites that post any crap written by people who feel they should be treated special.

The websites post your comments because it grows their bottom line (Like all other businesses).

I never did find a website that helped me. That's why we are creating our own Website.

Then you come here, state that you are a Design Graduate of 16 years and offer a review of Full Sail based on a single phone call to their admission's Department.

You could have offered wonderful advice on the Design school you did attend. Many young people and their parents are crying out for unbiased information so that they can make the right choice.

You could have done something positive and helped many people.

You may be an intelligent guy but you have no right to offer an opinion here about the Programs at Full Sail University.

You freely call Full Sail Students "Suckers" but I don't think you have that right. They would be suckers to listen to you and your unfounded advice.

Every school's Admission Department will revert to the default "We'll send you a brochure" once they realize that you are not looking to spend money. Every business does it as policy.

How to Solve This Problem

If you pretend that you are looking to spend money and enroll in a Program, you will get all the info you want. I get the best service because of it. You are a smart person so why don't you just play the game?

You could have got them to do whatever you want. Instead, you got angry and came here to lash out.

You are called a "Looky-Loo" to any business owner, especially when they are working on commission. You can't walk into a computer shop and expect the salesman to teach you how to fix your computer.

It is ignorant to judge the quality of a school from a single phone call. I know you are not stupid. With 16 years of experience in Design, you could become a mentor here.

I hope you write back and give some real world pointers to people interested in taking a Design Program. I would love to see you post some of your work.

Best of Luck,

Philip.
