It's also been called one of worst film schools Los Angeles has ever seen.
The Los Angeles Film School
Some people claim that larger class sizes have negatively impacted student access to the facilities on Campus.
It makes me wonder why The LA Film School has grown more quickly than most other Los Angeles Film Schools?
I think we read the word 'Scam' just one too many times in forum strings about the LA Film School.
My son and I had heard both sides of the LA Film School Story by now so we went looking for the truth somewhere down the middle.
The La Film School is called a For-Profit School. That means it costs money and operates outside the Public, Federally funded education system.
Not all For-Profit Schools give as little as possible and seek as much money as possible in return. Some do but you won't find them mentioned here.
There are film schools in LA that Over-deliver in an attempt to build a strong reputation for the future. They are in it for the long run and dedicate time and money to put back into the school to grow and improve it.
Their enrolment numbers have skyrocketed in recent years because the word is out that the Los Angeles Film School has re-dedicated itself to quality.
We also agree with the few negative statements commonly brought up by the LA film School. Most posters offer a similar complaint. Graduates are upset that the school didn't have a job and a future lined up for them at the end of their studies.
Students pay enormous tuition fees. Shouldn't they expect a future waiting for them upon completion of their schooling?
The LA film School is partly to blame because they do nothing to dispel the notion that attending there is a way to a guaranteed Career.

It just doesn't work the same way with the arts.
Anyone can learn how to weld but not many have that artistic merit and creativity to excel in the world of the arts, including that of film production world.

My son gave careful consideration to The Los Angeles Film School. I researched this school for weeks trying to find its holes and weaknesses but came away impressed.
Granted, I was comparing it to the other Middle-Tier schools which are the 'For-Profit' Schools that have Lower Entrance Requirements, offer Accelerated Programs and therefore cost less than half of any 4 year programs.
I would have loved to go the USC route (University of Southern California) but their Film Program is 4 years at double the cost. Not to mention the high entrance exam scores and GPA scores you're expected to maintain.
We're not talking address alone but rather the size of the film market just outside the door.
We examine location in relation to where the Film Companies spend their dollars and where they hire the largest number of people and for what positions.

The Hollywood Reporter once called the LA Film School "One of The Best-Equipped Private Learning Centers in The Country".
There's an example of getting good attention and having your reputation polished at the same time. It also makes my point about how well the school is equipped. Now.

The Jewel in their crown?
After studying the structure, topics and progressive purposefulness of the LA Film School Programs, I was impressed. This school has never tried to become anything more than a film school.
Granted much has changed and the curriculum is redesigned often, albeit with the experience of the previous year to perfect their teaching tactics, which classes to add, drop and what new technology has entered the market since the previous term.

The LA Film School is an accredited institution. They are Nationally accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC).
Most four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. are regionally accredited and do not recognize national accreditation such as ACCSC, which is also the Accrediting body of Full Sail University.
There are organizations out there now that are working on ways to make it so credits earned from an ACCSC school can be transferred to a Regionally accredited school.
We'll show you that National Credits Can be transferred to Regionally accredited Institutions. That's because it is at the discretion of the school you are applying to.

The Los Angeles Film School first opened its doors on September 8, 1999. It was a sunny day and the campus was filled for the opening ceremonies.
It did not hurt attendance that the La Film School Campus was in one of the most famous buildings in the heart of Los Angeles. The Campus is in the old and historic RCA Building at 6363 Sunset Boulevard, los Angeles.
Yes, the place where Radio Corporation of America was an electronics company from 1919 to 1986. I'm pretty sure Elvis recorded in the RCA studios along with countless other famous acts.
The founders of the LA film school are Diana Derycz-Kessler and husband Paul Kessler. It is almost odd but you have a school that is a self proclaimed-for-profit institution but owned by people who don't need the money. Then again, people are often prone to want more and then more.
Learn More About The LA Film School Campus.
The Los Angeles Film School's campus is an urban setting and does not have residential facilities for students to live in. Most students don't have a hard time finding a small apartment nearby or a cheap hotel to begin with.
Rents are high the closer you get to the school but the bus system is so efficient that I would get out of dodge. Get a cheaper place and make the commute. Great chance to catch up on reading and preparing your mind to absorb what is coming.
During the inauguration ceremony they had Oliver Stone as their guest speaker. He said a bunch of stuff about the LA film school continually raising the bar of quality learning. Then he said:
"Directors may rise and fall. Actors may wither and die. But great film schools last forever." There is a rich history of Los Angeles Film School alumni and even some teachers who went on to great things.

This is the official application form to the Los Angeles Film School. It is a .pdf document that is the official format used.
Read it, download it or make a paper airplane from it. It's here and it's a good read for those serious about getting the education that suits them and fits well.
Have a good look at the La Film School Application Form. There may be nothing of interest on it for you but there may be someone who wants to have a peek.

Only Simple numbers and digits here. We won't analyze the details like the pot-hole in the middle of the street some 34Meters inward. When you hit it the first time you'll know to avoid it again.
